We usually organise 9 talks and 2 visits each year. Places on our visits are usually limited in number and only available to members. There is normally an additional charge for each visit to cover items such as admission fees, guides and sometimes transport and/or refreshments.
Unless otherwise noted below, all talks take place at 8pm in Plaxtol Memorial Hall, School Lane, Plaxtol, Sevenoaks, Kent, TN15 0QD. See the map at the bottom of this page.

Tuesday 9 February, 8pm – A TRIBUTE TO JAYNE SEMPLE by Vanessa Dussek, followed by a screening of “THE ANATOMY OF A VILLAGE” in which Jayne appeared
Tuesday 9 March, 8pm – PAINTING KENT – ARTISTS’ DEPICTIONS OF THE COUNTY – FROM TUDOR KNOLE TO TRACEY EMIN’S MARGATE, a talk by Lydia Goodson
Tuesday 13 April, 8pm – THE FOLKLORE OF KENTISH FLOWERS, a talk by Sophie Leathart
Tuesday 11 May, 8pm – a short ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING, followed by THE MEDWAY PRISON HULKS, a talk by DR JEREMY CLARKE

Tuesday 29 June (NB. NOT 8 June) – A GUIDED VISIT TO THREE KENT CHURCHES (Higham, Cooling and, possibly, Cobham) with Sir Paul Britton. Details to follow.
Thursday 9 September (NB. NOT 22 June), 10 30 am – A GUIDED MORNING WALKING TOUR OF DEAL with Jonathan Fenner, lasting about two hours. Meet in Deal (exact location to follow) at 10 15am for start at 10 30am prompt. £10 a head, payable on booking.
Tuesday 14 September, 8pm – ALLENS FARM, PLAXTOL AND THE ROMANS, a talk by Peter Webb – this replaces THE ARCHITECTURAL HISTORY OF SEVENOAKS, a talk by Sir Paul Britton, which will be rearranged for a later date
Tuesday 12 October, 8pm – THE HISTORY OF OXENHOATH AND ITS OWNERS, a talk by Jonathan Fenner
WE HOPE THAT, CORONAVIRUS RULES PERMITTING, THE REST OF OUR 2021 PROGRAMME WILL PROCEED AS USUAL. HOWEVER, SOME MEETINGS MAY NEED TO BE HELD VIA ZOOM INSTEAD OF IN PLAXTOL MEMORIAL HALL, AND/OR THE DATE, TIME, TOPIC AND SPEAKER MAY NEED TO BE CHANGED.
